Nordic support for fuel cell truck APU development project between H2 Logic A/S, Volvo and StatoilHydro
29-10-2007
H2 Logic A/S has together with Volvo and StatoilHydro received funding from Nordic Energy Research for a $1,6 million development project that is to develop zero emission and low noise fuel cell based electrical generators (APU) for truck vehicles. The project has focus on further development of the fuel cell technology enabling a lower price level and operation in below zero degrees Celsius environments. The fuel cell stack is developed by the Swedish company PowerCell which is a joint venture between StatoilHydro and Volvo. The fuel cell APU system will be developed by H2 Logic, while research knowledge and competences will be provided from the Norwegian research institution SINTEF.

The new development project with Volvo and StatoilHydro adds yet a strategic and important project to the portfolio in H2 Logic. In 2006 H2 Logic was selected by the city car OEM Think Technology in Norway to supply fuel cell systems for seven vehicles in 2008. In June 2007 H2 Logic closed an order for a ship APU fuel cell system for the Daimler and Shell owned company Iceland New Energy Ltd.
