H2 Logic A/S elected as board member in European €470 million Joint Technology Initiative for hydrogen & fuel cells
16-10-2008
The European hydrogen and fuel cell industry has appointed H2 Logic A/S Business Development Manager, Mikael Sloth, as new board member of the €470 million large European Union Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) for hydrogen and fuel cells. The European Commission, the European Industry and the European Research Community, which compose the JTI, will invest together nearly 1 billion Euros over six years in fuel cells and hydrogen research, technological development and demonstration. The European Union alone contributes with €450 million to the JTI. The goal is to achieve mass-market roll-out of these promising technologies before 2020.

The first Stakeholders General Assembly held in Brussels this week marked the official launch of the Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) on Fuel Cells and Hydrogen (FCH).

The main goal of the JTI is to speed up the development of fuel cells and hydrogen technologies in Europe and enable their commercialization between 2010 and 2020.

It is estimated that the activities of the JTI will reduce time to market for hydrogen and fuel cell technologies by between 2 and 5 years. The partnership will implement an integrated and efficient programme of basic and applied research and technology development, demonstration and support activities, focused on the most promising applications.

During the General Assembly in Brussels this week the European hydrogen and fuel cell industry elected Business Development Manager Mikael Sloth from H2 Logic as new board member of the board for the JTI. The board consists of representatives from the Industry, Research organizations and the European Commission. Besides H2 Logic the Industry board members are Shell Hydrogen, Daimler, Rolls-Royce, SOFC-Power and ALPPS Fuel Cell Systems Mikael Sloth comments the election as board member: “The JTI for hydrogen and fuel cells is a great and important step for the European Industry that will contribute to develop and market introduce the technology and help secure an international leading position for Europe. It is a great honour and acknowledgement that the European Industry has elected H2 Logic as board member. We look forward to actively contribute to the JTI efforts”
